What We Do
Six Disciplines. One Stage.
From live theater to visual art, from community forums to film screenings — CAI Project LA creates spaces where culture thrives.
Theater
Live performance at the heart of community
CAI Project LA produces and presents live theater that reflects the stories, struggles, and triumphs of migrant and Latino communities in Los Angeles. From original works to classic adaptations, our stage is a space for voices that deserve to be heard.

What's Up, Don Quixote?
A one-person show where actor Rodolfo Ornelas plays 15 different characters from Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra's classic novel Don Quixote of la Mancha — including Don Quixote, Sancho Panza, the town priest, and the Duchess of La Mancha. A family-friendly monologue directed by Mario Iván Martínez, co-produced by Charlotte Hendrickx, with costume design by Gisely Ayub.
Sisters from Other Misters — Musical
The English version of the Peruvian musical Té de Tías is titled "Sisters From Other Misters". The title literally translates from Spanish slang as "Aunty's Tea" or "Girl Talk". The musical follows a group of best friends who reunite for a girls' night after a long time apart, navigating life, secrets, and comedy while testing the true bounds of their friendship. Written and Directed by Anahí de Cardenas. Performed by four Peruvian actresses, the production ran for three weeks in November 2023 at the Zephyr Theatre with the generous support of the Peruvian Consulate in Los Angeles.
Exhibitions
Visual art that speaks across languages
Our exhibition program showcases the work of visual artists whose practice engages with cultural identity, migration, memory, and community. We present solo and group shows in partnership with galleries, cultural centers, and community spaces across Los Angeles.
To Be Announced
Our next exhibition is in development. Stay tuned for details.
Workshops
Hands-on learning and creative practice
Our workshops bring together artists and community members for hands-on creative experiences. From acting intensives to visual art labs, our workshops are designed to be accessible, bilingual, and transformative.
Acting for the Stage — 6-Week Intensive
A six-week acting workshop for adults with no prior experience. Taught bilingually in English and Spanish. Limited to 15 participants.
Meditation & Acting Workshop
A full-weekend intensive workshop bringing together 15 actors — half of them Hispanic — to explore the intersection of mindfulness and performance. Led by multi-award-winning director David Victori, the workshop guided participants through meditation techniques as a foundation for deeper, more present acting.
Forums
Dialogue, debate, and community voice
Our forums create space for critical conversation about culture, identity, policy, and community. We convene artists, scholars, activists, and community members to engage with the issues that matter most.
Art & Immigration — Community Forum
A public forum on the role of art in the immigrant rights movement, featuring artists, advocates, and community organizers.
Cinema
Film as a window into other worlds
Our cinema program presents film screenings, short film showcases, and documentary screenings that center the stories of migrant and Latino communities. We partner with filmmakers, festivals, and cultural organizations to bring powerful cinema to our audiences.
Cine Latino — Short Film Showcase
A curated showcase of short films by filmmakers of Hispanic origin — from the US, Latin America, and Spain. A celebration of the breadth and diversity of Hispanic cinema, followed by a conversation with the filmmakers.
Brisk on Screen — Short Film Showcase
Six original short films by Latinx artists — each story born on the Brisk Festival stage and brought to life on screen. Works that premiered as live short plays at Brisk Festival were developed into short films, showcasing the creative range and storytelling power of the Latinx community in Los Angeles.

CAI Project LA's gallery program supports emerging and established artists through exhibitions, artist residencies, and professional development opportunities. We are committed to building a permanent gallery space as part of our cultural center vision.
